  • 1 plain or wholemeal tortilla wrap
  • 5 lettuce leaves
  • 2 cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 5 lemon basil leaves
  • 2 slices Cheddar cheese, or any cheese you like

  1. Lay the tortilla on a plate, and line the tortilla with the lettuce leaves, leaving a 1cm border on the sides. Place the tomatoes, basil leaves and Cheddar cheese evenly over the upper 2/3 of the centre of the wrap.
  2. Fold the bottom 1/3 of the wrap over the vegetables. Tuck one side of the wrap over the vegetables and roll securely so that the vegetables will not fall out as you eat.


If you cannot find lemon basil, regular basil would also work a treat in this wrap!

Crunchy Tortilla Veg Wrap

It is the summer season when people like to eat healthy and light food. It is one of the best for the summer meal. Crunchy Mexican veg wrap is a super nutritious and packed with veggies and made in Mexican style. It is a simple recipe and they are full of healthy vegetables which are good for health.

This wholesome wrap is a complete meal. As it consists of various filling according to choices and has creamy greek yogurt to accomplish the wraps. It has the goodness of colorful and crunchy vegetables like bell peppers, carrots, cucumber, onion, and corn. It has creamy yogurt sauce on top which makes the filling perfect and gives the creamy texture to the Mexican wrap.

What Is Wrap?

It is a dish made with a soft flatbread rolled around a filling. The usual flatbreads are wheat tortillas, lavash, or pita the filling usually consists of cold sliced meat, poultry, or fish accompanied by shredded lettuce, diced tomato or pico de gallo, guacamole, sauteed mushrooms, bacon, grilled onions, cheese, and a sauce. It was western culture and probably comes from California, and became popular in the 1990s.

It is a dish that is easy to go it can be taken in hands and can be eaten while working. In India, these wraps gained popularity from Kolkata and became the popular street food. Now a variety of wraps are been available like kebab is wrapped in paratha. It has chicken wrap filled with crispy chicken with lettuce, mayonnaise, and salsa. It has cheese wraps that are loaded with cheese and some veggies with ranch dressing.

In this tortilla veg wrap, I have made four different types of healthy filling which are healthy and tasty. These filings are cottage cheese, mushroom, corn, and coleslaw. These filings are flourishing and nutritious as it consists of healthy ingredients. In these fillings, you can vary vegetables according to your choices. For refreshing flavor, I have used lettuce leaf in the wraps which are healthy.

If you want to make your wraps creamy in texture then you drizzle ranch sauce or greek yogurt on the top and then wrap the tortilla sheets with the filling. In this recipe, I have used whole wheat tortilla sheets but you can use any tortilla sheets.

i have posted quite a few peda recipes, including the latest besan peda, but this recipe is one of the simplest of all. in other words, it is not only a healthy alternative but also a simple one made with just 2 ingredients. the recipe tastes very similar to the modak recipe but in a very simpler way. moreover, i even felt that handing and shaping rice flour-based sweets are much easier compared to milk or besan. there is no headache of continuous stirring like in milk solids or no danger of burning the besan flour while roasting it. i personally like the dark coloured jaggery and hence used it in this recipe. it not only adds flavour but also gives a distinct colour and smell to the sweet. you may very well prepare it with normal jaggery or even sugar, but i would heavily recommend trying this jaggery once for any of your sweets recipe.

furthermore, i would also like to add some additional tips, suggestions and variations to the rice flour sweet recipe. firstly, i would heavily recommend using fine-textured rice flour for this recipe and it would be easy to handle and shape. moreover, you can also use leftover rice to prepare this sweet, but you may have to prepare a smooth paste out of it. secondly, if you wish to experiment, you may wrap this sweet with coconut powder coating or even sugar powder or dry fruits powder coating to make it a rich sweet. i personally like the basic one and hence i have skipped it. lastly, once the sweet is shaped, i would heavily recommend refrigerate these sweets for about 30 minutes so that it gets the smooth texture and also turn slightly harder.

Frankie vs Kathi roll

Both frankie recipe and kathi roll are popular all over India. They both look similar, ingredients used are almost the same but the taste is sure different. Also, the cooking method is slightly different, the addition of toppings have variations.

  • Frankies are from Mumbai (Bombay) while kathi roll is from Kolkata (Calcutta).
  • Stuffing for both made from boiled potatoes. In veg frankie, spiced mashed potato stuffing is shaped into a cylindrical log and again shallow fried into the oil. On another hand, kathi roll has boiled potato sabzi kind stuffing which has chunks of potatoes. Though different variations in stuffings are available in both like meat, paneer. In non-veg kathi rolls, a layer of egg is made on roti/chapati.
  • Chopped onions and pickles green chilies are added as a topping in frankie wrap while thinly sliced onion, cabbage, carrot, capsicum mixture is used a topping for kathi roll.

NOTE: The recipe ingredients below in recipe card is for 4 no. of veg frankies. But in the step by step photos, I have tripled the amount, so you will see I am making 12 of them.

Ingredients of Aloo Jeera Wrap

  • 2 chopped,peeled potato
  • 4 chapatis
  • 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • salt as required
  • 4 cheese cubes
  • 1 onion
  • 2 tablespoon refined oil
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mango powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric

How to make Aloo Jeera Wrap

Step 1 Prepare the masala

Firstly, heat 1 tbsp oil in a kadhai. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter. Now add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, and dry mango powder. Stir gently.

Step 2 Cook potatoes

Now add chopped potatoes in the kadhai. Stir well and let them cook. You can add some water if needed. Cover the kadhai and cook for 2 minutes. Now take off the lid, stir it well and cook for another 5 minutes of medium-high heat.

Step 3 Prepare chapatis

Now place chapati in a plate, add some chopped onions, some aloo jeera sabzi, sprinkle chaat masala and grate 1 cheese cube on it. Roll it like a wrap and place it aside. Repeat the step with the rest of the chapatis.

Step 4 Cook and serve

Now, heat 1 tbsp oil in a non-stick pan. Place all the four rolls in it for just one minute. This will melt the cheese and give a proper texture to the chapatis. Once done, serve with a dip of your choice.

i am big fan of paneer recipes and especially paneer starters like achari paneer tikka or paneer ghee roast. however, my husband always prefer to kebab whenever we plan our outdoor lunch or dinners. hence we end up ordering both the starters and i end up eating these kebab recipes. i personally like veg seekh kabab wrapped within garlic naan with some chopped vegetables as veggie wrap rather than as a starter. but it even tastes great with the combination of yogurt + green chutney too.

furthermore, some important tips and suggestions for a perfect seekh kabab recipe. firstly, i have used normal nonstick tawa to grill the kebeb. however it can also be grilled in oven by applying some butter or oil on top of it. secondly, apply oil to your palm while shaping the kebeb to skewers. also try to shape it evenly otherwise, kabab may not stick to skewers. lastly, if you do not have mint sauce or chutney, just mix yogurt with green chutney or sandwich chutney and serve it with vegetable seekh kabab.

Ultimate Paneer Wrap Recipe

For all of you who have been waiting to try out our Multipurpose Marinade, here is the perfect Ultimate Paneer Wrap recipe. We recently had the opportunity to share this delicious recipe with the Tasted Channel on youtube for their “My Ultimate Sandwich” series. And if paneer is not your thing, feel free to marinate chicken for the Ultimate Chicken Wrap.

Prep Time: 10 minutes, plus 30 minutes marination time
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Makes approximately 6 wraps

Multipurpose Marinade – click here for recipe
Paneer – 14 oz, cut into 2 inch strips
Red/Green Bell Pepper – 1 each, sliced
Red Onion – 1 medium, sliced
Jalapeno – to taste (or optional), sliced
Oil – 2 Tbsp, divided (for sauteeing veggies and paneer)
Naan – 6 (tortilla or pita bread can be substituted)
Lettuce – shredded, for garnishing

For Dressing:
Cilantro – handful
Green Chilies – to taste
Lime Juice – to taste
Salt – to taste
Sour Cream – 1 cup
Grind first four ingredients to a smooth paste and mix with sour cream

1. Place Paneer in a zipper bag and add Multipurpose Marinade.
2. Mix thoroughly to coat the paneer and marinate in the fridge for at least half an hour (can be marinated overnight).
3. Heat 1 Tbsp Oil in a skillet or griddle.
4. Sautee Veggies until lightly caramelized, but still crisp. Do not overcook. Remove onto a plate and salt lightly.
5. Add 1 Tbsp Oil to the skillet and sautee marinated Paneer until caramelized on all sides.
6. To assemble wrap, heat a Naan on the skillet or over an open flame to soften.
7. Spread a generous amount of dressing on the Naan and top with Lettuce, sauteed Veggies and sauteed Paneer. More dressing can be added on top.
8. Fold the Naan and enjoy hot!

This colorful veggie wrap is my favorite lunch box item. One bite of it and your kids will crave for more. It tastes the same whether it’s served hot or cold. It does not contain any chilies. The tomato sauce used in this recipe may be replaced by pudina (mint) chutney. The cream cheese is optional. Alternatively, the cream cheese may be replaced with mayonnaise or hung curd. In order to obtain tri-color phulkas (Flat Indian Bread), doughs are used from the Carrot Paratha, Ajwain Paratha and Palak (Spinach) Paratha recipes. However, normal wheat dough too can be used.

Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 8 minutes

Equipment and Utensils:


  • 4 Phulkas (Flat Indian Bread)
  • 1/2 cup Corn Kernels
  • 4 medium sized Mushrooms thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup Cabbage finely shredded
  • 1 small Carrot finely shredded
  • 2 small cubes Cheese grated or crumbled
  • 4 tablespoon Tomato Sauce
  • 2 tablespoon Cream Cheese or Veg Mayonnaise or Hung Curd
  • 1 teaspoon Olive Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper Powder
  1. Keep 4 phulkas ready without applying any fat over them.
  2. Put 1 teaspoon olive oil in a nonstick pan and keep it on medium flame.
  3. When oil is hot, add cut mushrooms and corn.
  4. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Then saute till mushrooms are cooked.
  5. Mixture should become completely dry, so cook till all water evaporates.
  6. Switch off the flame and let it cool down.
  7. Now to assemble the wrap, keep one phulka in a dish.
  8. Apply the spread of your choice (cream cheese in this case).
  9. Spread it evenly all over the phulka.
  10. Now add 1 to 2 tablespoon of mushroom and corn mixture in the central part.
  11. On that put cabbage and carrot. Sprinkle some salt and paper on it.
  12. Now put ¾ tablespoon cheese and spread it vertically.
  13. Add tomato sauce on the pile.
  14. Fold from both sides and the wrap is ready to serve.
  15. Keep this as it is if you want to take it in a lunch box.
  16. If you want it hot then apply some ghee or butter on tava.
  17. Assemble the wrap on the tava and keep it on slow flame for 2 minutes.
  18. This will make the wrap hot and crispy.
  19. The above ingredients are sufficient for 4 wraps.
