Crumble with plums

The seasonal fruits are great to be integrated in various dessert recipes. Today we offer you a simple recipe for plum crumble, but you can make it with any kind of fruit you like: peaches, nectarines, etc. It is easy to make and is a great dessert in summer, when we have fresh fruit available.

Crumble is a different dessert than the cake with dough given on a grater, although it is quite similar in appearance and preparation. The crumble dough must remain sour, so that it can be sprinkled on top of the fruit, so it will have more dry ingredients.

  • For the dough:
  • 70 g of almond flour
  • 100 g butter
  • 100 g of flour
  • 70 g sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • a pinch of salt
  • For the filling:
  • 400 g plums
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • a sachet of vanilla sugar

Put the flour and almond flour in a large bowl. Add cold butter, sugar, baking powder and salt. Start kneading with your hands to incorporate all the ingredients, until you get a crumbly dough that looks like breadcrumbs. Let the dough cool for 10-15 minutes.

Wash and peel the plums, then cut them into cubes. Add over the plum 2 tablespoons of sugar, flour, cinnamon and vanilla sugar. Mix everything well so that the fruit is covered by the mixture.

Prepare a tray that you line with a little butter. Put the plums evenly in the pan. Add the crumbly dough on top.

Bake the pan in the preheated oven at 180 degrees for 20-25 minutes, or until the crumble is nicely browned on the surface.

Serve the cake with vanilla or plain ice cream.

Plum recipes for digestion and constipation

Professor Ovidu Bojor notes in one of his books that plums are the fruits with the best laxative effect, used for this purpose since antiquity by Greeks and Romans.

Plums cure both constipation and hemorrhoids. The only contraindication is for people who have constipation and colitis at the same time.
